U.S. Department of Justice Publishes Final Rule Concerning Audio Description Expansion in Movie TheatresDecember 2nd, 2016 by Katie Frederick
December 2, 2016 – the U.S. Department of Justice published today in the Federal Register the final rule covering expansion of audio description services in movie theatres covered under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The rule takes effect in 45 days, at which point theatres must publicly provide information on audio description services, maintain devices, and have staff be familiar with the use and care of such devices where currently available.
