Bold Buckeyes Team – ACB Brenda Dillon Memorial Walk

March to the Arch with the Bold Buckeyes! Every step and every dollar helps people who are blind or have low vision live full, independent lives.

This summer, ACB-Ohio’s Bold Buckeyes team is once again taking part in the ACB Brenda Dillon Memorial Walk — and with the ACB national convention headed to St. Louis, this year’s theme is March to the Arch. Whether you’re marching in the shadow of the Gateway Arch or logging your miles here in Ohio, you can walk wherever works for you:

At the ACB-Ohio summer picnic on Saturday, July 11 at Hogback Ridge Park — walk with your ACB-Ohio friends, then enjoy the picnic! To learn more, visit the statewide cookout page.

Whether you walk 1 mile or 10, every step helps raise money for ACB and ACB-Ohio. Each walker sets their own goal.

Two ways to take part

1. Sign up to walk

Join the Bold Buckeyes, ACB-Ohio’s official walk team. Once you sign up, you’ll be added to our team list and receive tools and tips to help you gather donations.

The toolkit for Walkers has everything you need to share your walk experience. Download it  at Bold Buckeyes Toolkit

2. Make a donation

Can’t walk this year? You can still make a real difference. We’re suggesting a gift of $36 in honor of the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed July 26, 1990 — but every gift of any size counts.

Where your money goes

ACB-Ohio’s share of the funds supports our Matching Grants program, which helps offset the cost of adaptive equipment for Ohioans who are legally blind — talking watches, magnifiers, braille devices, digital reading devices, and more. It also supports chapter projects, including events and transportation to the ACB-Ohio state convention. The remainder supports the American Council of the Blind’s national programs and advocacy.

About the walk

The Brenda Dillon Memorial Walk honors the memory of Brenda Dillon, a dedicated ACB leader and tireless advocate. Each year, walkers across the country raise funds that keep ACB and its state affiliates strong.
